Description

A black and white photograph of J & W Buchanan's General Store on Bridge Street, Mataura. The Buchanan family ran this general store for nearly 50 years. Brothers, John and William set up the business in 1921; John took it over in 1934 and transferred it to his son Ian in 1948 after Ian returned from World War Two. Ian ran the business through to 1968. Keystores owned the business from 1973 to 1990 and most locals knew the building as the 'Keystore' building. The building was pulled down in 2014
