Post card; of Trooper John Malcolm Taylor of Mataura with his 17 year old sister Nan Taylor (later Willcocks). John was a banker with the Bank of New Zealand before joining the army in 1917 after initially being in the First Reserves. He served in the Middle East and was assigned clerical roles and also served in World War Two as a wages clerk. His service is a reminder that not every soldier was pushed forward into the front lines.
