Three soil sets that occur on the site of a proposed botanic garden near Manurewa, South Auckland, are mapped at a scale of 1 : 4 800 and described. Chemical and mineralogical analyses are presented for Manurewa silt loam and Torehape silt loam. It is concluded that as far as soil factors are concerned the area is suitable for a botanic garden.
