- Description
This homemade toy ship is part of a set of three made for Michael Barkman when he was a young boy during World War Two (1939-45). They are an important example of the way toys often reflect history and new technologies. Toy manufacturers have traditionally been quick to reproduce toy versions of the lastest car, a new aeroplane or ships. During the war toys took on a military theme as these excellent homemade examples illustrate.
