Description

Scenes from the Ringatu New Year hui inside an unidentified meeting house in Wairoa, taken in 1964 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified. Images show children playing stick games (ti rakau) on the floor of the whare nui, and some groups laying on bedding. A group of kuia (older women) who are sitting are covered by a rug.
