Printed in greyscale in the 'Leader' on June 4, 1991. The December 4, 1990 'Leader' had announced the result and the $35 000 prize, after the November 29 Michael Fowler Centre concert. Patrick Bowles wrote a review of a May 17 Civic Hall concert in which Sam had played, with his teacher, Jan Tawroszewicz, and the Wellington Regional Orchestra.
