In April 1965 TEAL was renamed Air New Zealand. 1965 also heralded the beginning of the jet era with the arrival of the first DC8 aircraft and a big move from Whenuapai to Mangere and the brand new international airport. The only change to the original Christian Dior designed uniform was the hostesses' hat, which switched to a cloche style hat with rolled brim.
