Results are given from a 10-year study of the effects of possums on the vegetation of Kapiti Island made between 1975 and 1985. Since possum control was resumed on the island in 1980, and more particularly since intensified control was begun in 1983, there has been a steady reduction in browsing of some of the island's major trees and an improvement in vigour.
