Wildlife Service, Department of Internal Affairs, have suggested two options for siting of the third takahe pen at the Burwood Reserve. Based on as assessment of the suitability of the two areas as takahe habitat and their potential to sustain breeding pairs, the option for a large breeding pen encompassing high quality red tussock grassland and extensive beech forest is supported (auth)
