Description

The branch name has changed over the years. Originally a Firestone outlet. which opened here in June or July 1971.; Firestone Direct an one stage. Firestone had been the first tyre factory in New Zealand. In America they got into trouble after massive recalls, and in 1988 were bought by Bridgestone of Japan. The Upper Hutt Dunlop factory closed in 2006; the only other New Zealand factory, Bridgestone/Firestone's, closed in Christchurch in 2007, as did all remaining tyre factories in Australia.
