Description

Uchikake robe with long sleeves and yuzen-dyed crepe with silk and metal thread embroidery of bamboo, cranes, plum blossom etc. Lined in scarlet silk, padded hem. Japanese brides wear highly decorated robes like this uchikake over their kimono. Layers of techniques like yuzen dyeing, handpainting, and nihon shishu embroidery create a garment of elaborate beauty. The padded hem protects the robe which is so long it drags on the ground.
