Child's fancy dress costume, 1915, representing Lord Nelson Costume worn by Leslie Smytheman (then aged 5-6 years) at Children's Day Parade held at Auckland Domain 26 November 1915. This was part of a fund-raising function, raising funds for the Wounded Soldiers Fund. See photo etc. in Weekly News 3/12/1915. Costume made by Leslie Smytheman's mother who added wig to hat when the costume was later worn by Leslie Smytheman's daughter. Outfit comprises: .1: jacket: navy blue with gold trimming ....
