Description

View of the old St Benedict's church from the Symonds Street Cemetery. The images shows the white picket fences of the graves running up a gully towards the church in the Roman Catholic section of the graveyard. The pictures has been taken from what is now the boundary of the cemetery, the gully in the foreground is now a motorway. The church was opened in 1882 but destroyed by fire in 1886 and replaced with the present brick church which stands today on Saint Benedicts Street in Grafton Auck...
