Description

Revisits the debate over the need for an inclusive national languages policy. Focuses on the so-called international languages - as opposed to indigenous and heritage/community languages - and what such a policy might mean for these languages, in particular. Documents arguments put forward in the early 1990s, including the 1992 'Aotearoa : Speaking for ourselves' report by J. Waite. Reflects on how international languages have influenced the education sector in the last 20 years.
