Printed in colour in the 'Leader' on July 30, 1997, with a second picture of Sam and his violin. Sam was in Upper Hutt as one of two guest performers in a Wellington Sinfonia (now Orchestra Wellington) concert in the civic centre. It was conducted by John Hopkins, former NZSO conductor, now living in Australia, and attracted an audience of 350 in spite of an All Black test being broadcast.
