Track 10 of the 1970 album Songs of Maori heroes, by Upper Hutt kapa haka group Māwai Hakona, 'Piki mai ra, haere mai' has words by Mata Warena. It is a welcome song, urging young people to come to the marae and learn the traditional arts lest they be lost.
