Letter from Mrs Margaret Loveday to Mr McDavitt telling of her and her son, Alan's, arrival and early days in London. Alan Raymond Loveday was born 29 February 1928 in Palmerston North, to Margaret (nee Rickard) and Leslie Loveday. Playing the violin from an very early age, a local benefit concert was held to raise funds to send the 11-year-old Alan with his mother Margaret to the UK for violin lessons, where he became a pupil of Albert Sammons.
