Description

This first day cover was issued by Australia Post in 1978 to celebrate the Australian Racing Industry, particularly horses that had won the Melbourne Cup. One of these was the race horse Phar Lap, who won the race in 1930. All four stamps were designed by Melbourne artist Brian Clinton. This cover was stamped in North Melbourne in Victoria.
