Description

A striking photograph of the Japanese Government mercantile training ship, Shintoku Maru (2518 tons) under sail. The vessel, which is a four mastered auxiliary barquentine, arrived at Auckland in the course of a training cruise in te Pacific. The complement of 130 includes 70 cadets from the Kobe Nautical College, who are being trained for service in the Japanese mercantile marine. Captain N. Hayashi is in command.
