Description

Upper: A Westland air service machine alights on the shingle bed of the Pariara River, South Westland, to land consignments of whitebait fresh from the nets. Flown to Hokitika in time to be put on the afternoon rail-car, the whitebait supplies reach Christchurch the same night. Lower left: Whitebaiters beside the river at Hokitika. Lower right: A netter operating at the Mahitahi River, near Bruce Bay.
