Description

About 1500 attended the event, when the Mahinarangi meeting house and Turongo, the King's house, were open for public inspection. Princess Te Puea hosted the event. The photograph was taken when the legend of Mahinarangi and Turongo was being illustrated. The warrior has arrived by canoe (represented by the canoe poi by girls and young women), to meet his bride.
