Description

LEFT: Chinese civilians leaving their homes in Manila after the Japanese had set fire to large areas in the city. This picture was taken as the first American troops entered the Philippines capital. RIGHT: Two remarkable pictures taken during an American raid on Takao Harbour, Formosa. In the upper picture bombs just scored a direct hit on a Japanese transport. The concussion has formed an almost perfect circular pattern on the sea. An instant later (lower) the ship blows up.
