With fingers on the triggers of their levelled pistols, the Australians await the instructions of Commander A. E. Fowler (right), senior Australian naval officer in the Solomons. RIGHT: The Japanese barge is called alongside and members of the crew are told that the envoy is being taken to Torokina. Japanese salutes were not returned by the Australians.
