Greeting card. "Meanwhile at home the 1st Battalion, Hauraki Regiment was mobilised on 15th December 1941 and, for the next 18 months formed part of the garrison troops holding the North Auckland peninsula against the threat of a Japanese invasion. With its passing these Haurakis scattered to the four winds, mostly overseas, and by the end of 1944 the battalion was reduced to a static role, its few remaining members being in permanent headquarters at Tauranga.".
