Ko na mauri! Yesterday we welcomed some of the Kiribati community in to connect with their taonga as part of our Pacific Collections Access Project and to celebrate Kiribati Independence Day and the start of their Language Week. The Museum holds around 1500 artefacts from Kiribati, including an extraordinary Te Otanga (Kiribati suit of armour) made of coconut fibre and a helmet made from a Porcupine Fish.
