- Description
His Majesty's Hospital Ship HMHS Braemar Castle (1898) served as a troopship in the Gallipoli campaign and then converted into a 421 bed hospital ship from 1915. In 1918 she was sent to Murmansk as the base ship for British and French troops engaged in the Allied Northern campaign. She returned to Russian in 1921 and was the last non Russian ship to leave Archangel with patients. She was later used to transport troops to Turkey and Cyprus during the Turkish/Greek war of 1922.
