Common at this location. Heavily flowering. Unpublished research on the genetics of ti kouka (Cordyline australis) undertaken by Dr Tristan J.J.B.N. Armstrong between 2001 and 2003, strongly suggests that Chatham Islands populations of ti kouka are the same as and so derived from north Taranaki, North Island, New Zealand sites. If correct this supports the idea that ti kouka is not indigenous to the Chatham Islands but was bought to them by Maori (Ati Awa, (Ngati Mutunga, Ngati Tama)) who set...
