Before the Auckland Harbour Bridge was built, the houses and reserve at the end of Northcote Point had uninterrupted views across the Waitematā Harbour to Devonport, Rangitoto and Auckland City on the eastern side, and to Birkenhead, Greenhithe and beyond to Herne Bay, Te Atatu and the Waitakeres to the west.
