- Description
Cranes remove the pines at the end of Northcote Point as they are brought down in preparation for the construction of the northern anchorage. The pines, planted in 1909, were a prominent harbour landmark for ferry passengers. A totara was also planted at Northcote Point by local iwi representatives in 1908 to mark Northcote becoming a borough. This tree was later transplanted, but did not survive.
