Albany's Upper Wharf at low tide with the wooden Main Road bridge in the background. Historical note: This wooden bridge was later replaced by the existing Albany Main Road concrete bridge. In 1934 Rex Cowley's father, Leonidas Elijah Cowley, drove through the hand rail in a Model T Ford and landed in the creek some thirty feet below and survived. The wharf is where Hunter's launches used to tie up (1908-1927) when both passengers and goods were transported by water before there was a road. I...
