The Albany Hotel opposite The Avenue with garage on the left. Historical note: The first hotel in Albany was built at the Landing and called the Wharfside Inn. It was built by William Montgomery, an Auckland surveyor, about 1863. When this building burned down in 1886, a second hotel, the Bridge Inn, was built almost on the exact spot where the present hotel stands, opposite The Avenue. William Stevenson was the publican.
