Captain Fred Ladd's Tourist Air Travel Grumman G-44 Widgeon seaplane at Long Bay. The well-known civil aviation pilot Captain Fred Ladd was born in Warkworth, but the Ladd family also lived in Auckland and Wellington before settling in Hamilton, where Fred went to high school.
