- Description
Two surveyors(presumed)look over the Brown's farm before subdivision. Historical note: John Logan Campbell purchased the land from the south end of Browns Bay to Okura in 1864. Campbell believed there was coal in the area. When no coal was discovered Campbell subdivided the land for farming. Mrs Hammond was the first owner of the land block encompassing the present Browns Bay. She sold the land (136 acres)to Peter Brown a farmer from Mount Albert in 1876
