Description

George and Margaret Vaughan's Long Bay homestead, built in 1862. The gum store roof can be seen below and to the left of the home. The sheep shed is on the left and cowshed on the right. A pa was situated over the top of the hill behind the house. Historical note: Vaughan Homestead was originally a puriri and kauri farm cottage built by George Vaughan in 1863. It was extended for his wife Margaret (nee Wilson) and family after his marriage in 1877
