"Teams from the North Shore to as far away as Hamilton took part in this combined field day of the Māngere United and Airport Netball [Associations] in an effort to raise funds ... The field day was held at the Māngere Intermediate School on 30 July 1972." (Courier Times-Advertiser, 10 August 1972, p. 14)
