Description

"Once the home of the Pukekohe constable Pat McGovern, his wife and 19 children and, at the same time, the Dominion Dining Rooms and Accommodation House, this building in lower King Street, Pukekohe, was demolished last year ...", Manukau Courier, 16 March 1982, p. 5. Recently it has been proposed to rename the alley beside the building McGovern's Lane in honour of Constable McGovern, who served as Pukekohe's sole policeman from 1886 to 1911.
