Aerial view of the Watea Estate, Māngere, 3 September 1956. The entrance to the Pukaki Creek is in the foreground to the lower right and part of Te Wiroa Island to the far left. The Manukau Heads are visible in the distance. The houses and baches of the Watea Estate, a seaside settlement first subdivided in 1926, were demolished during the construction of Auckland International Airport. (Note: Te Wiroa Island is sometimes referred to as Te Wairoa Island.)
