Description

Children at play in front of the Manurewa Children's Home, Russell Road, Manurewa, ca 1949. The Baptist Union of New Zealand opened this residential home for neglected or orphaned children in what was then an isolated rural setting in October 1914. The facility operated as a residential home until 1989, then became the base for Baptist Social Services until 1996, when both the land and buildings were put up for sale.
