- Description
The monument erected on the grave of Mrs Susan Maunsell, Port Waikato, photographed in September 1964. Mrs Maunsell, wife of the missionary Robert Maunsell, died during childbirth at her husband's mission station at Maraetai (later Port Waikato) on 24 October 1851. She was just 37 years old. She was buried near the site of the mission station. Some years later her sons and daughters erected a memorial there.
