To the left foreground is a grocery store ('New Zealand Grocer Self-help Co-op."), then a residential section and a small block of shops, beyond which one corner of the new Papatoetoe Civic War Memorial building can be glimpsed, as well as the roofline and facade of the Papatoetoe Town Hall.
