Pukekohe Peace Celebrations Programme, 15 August 1945. This single-page programme outlined the plan for Pukekohe Borough Council's official peace celebrations to mark the end of the Second World War (held on the day after VJ Day, or Victory over Japan Day). Participants in the civic parade were to assemble at the Borough Council Offices, then march to the Post Office, where the national anthem ('God Save the King') would be sung, followed by the mayor, M.R. Grierson, reading the proclamation...
