Description

A book rack in the Chapel of St Mary Magdeline, St Mary's Family Home, Great South Road, Ōtāhuhu, photographed in September 1986. St Mary's Women's Homes an Anglican home for unwed mothers, was opened on 25 March 1904. The Chapel of St Mary Magdeline was dedicated on 31 May 1911. The shelves presumably date from this time. As part of the design, the shelves are pegged in place by wooden clothes pegs.
