Members of the Vilila family pose for a group portrait prior to Ian Vilila's haircutting ceremony. Ian (with lei) is pictured with his parents, his mother's brother, who came from American Samoa especially for the occasion, his adoptive sister, and Mrs Vilila's nephew. Hundreds of members of the Niue Island community gathered at the function in Ōtara to witness the ceremony. The procedure took well over an hour, with each of Ian's relatives cutting a piece of hair.
