Description

Scene on Elletts Mountain, or Maungataketake, ca 1975. Quarrying of the mountain began in September 1962. The New Zealand Historic Places Trust undertook archaeological excavations on the mountain in the summers of 1973/4 and 1974/5, and again in November 1982. This is one of a series of photographs taken during a visit to the site, probably in January 1975.
