Description

View looking towards Papatoetoe from the Waitemata Brewery on the corner of Bairds Road and Great South Road to the south of Otahuhu. This shot was probably taken not long after the brewery was opened on 5 November 1929. The brewery is usually described as being in Otahuhu. In fact, it was located to the south of the Tamaki River, within Manukau County and well beyond the boundary of Otahuhu Borough, and almost as close to Papatoetoe as to Otahuhu.
