View at Karekare showing a slab homestead with external chimney, shed and fenced paddock, stream, cattle, with a horse and cart on the road through the valley in the foreground. Historical note: This was the first home of the Murdoch family who arrived in Karekare in 1883. The house burnt down after four or five years.
