- Description
The Piha Tramway engine, hauling two bogies with kauri logs and a tail-end bogie cart, is crossing Wekatahi Creek on a trestle bridge, North Piha Beach. Historical note: Fred Tapp, the engine driver said instructions were that only one log was to be pulled by the engine at a time but he mostly took two when conditions were right. (Dry weather). The box wagon at the back was used to carry wood for the steam engine driving the hauler at the top of the Anawhata incline. (Source: Jack Diamond).
