View of the deck of the yacht AWATEA in a tributary of the Henderson Creek. Historical note: Awatea was built in 1886 by Charles Bailey, Snr in Auckland. The yacht was bought by Henry Swan c1897. Around 1901, he reputedly told friends that he was embarking on solo world navigation. He sailed his yacht to a tributary of Henderson Creek and spent the next 30 years living aboard or nearby.
