Description

The Papatoetoe Civic War Memorial in St George Street is officially opened. The new two-storey building contains several public facilities: a new public library (see also 18 December 1978), a ladies restroom, and a 'concert chamber' or meeting room, known as the Memorial Hall; as well as the Papatoetoe RSA clubrooms, which are at the rear of the building (see also 9 March 1974), and the new Borough Council offices and Council chambers, which are upstairs.
