An Order of Companion of the British Empire (C.B.E.) medal with case. This was awarded to Jean Batten in 1936. The medal consists of a crown atop a blue cross. In the centre of the cross is a medallion with a red border and gold centre. Inscribed: 'FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE'. On the verso is the initials 'GRI'
